Claire Vander Kooi

LMSW

Claire is a Master Social Worker (MSW) with a temporary license. She earned both her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from Dordt University. Before joining Heartland, Claire gained valuable experience working in a school setting and at a domestic violence crisis center.

Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, identity development, grief and loss, and domestic and sexual violence. Claire primarily works with children and teenagers, but she also provides care to adults of all ages. She is passionate about meeting people where they are and walking alongside them through their hardships. Her goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where clients can develop skills and tools that foster meaningful, lasting change.

Claire believes that the Lord is the ultimate comforter, counselor, and healer, and she is grateful for the hope and assurance that brings to her work and her clients.

Outside of work, Claire enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs. She loves reading, watching movies, and can often be found at local coffee shops with friends and family.
