About Karen
Dr. Karen Cleveland is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 10 years of clinical, teaching, and consulting experience. Karen earned a Master of Theology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2008 and began practicing with Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Pella. Beginning in 2016, Karen spent 4 years teaching full time at Central College, her alma mater, and continued to see clients on a part-time basis. She is excited to be back doing clinical work full-time with Heartland Christian Counseling. She provides cognitive-behavioral based therapy services to teenagers and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, trauma reactions, unresolved grief, and personality disorders.
In 2009, Karen and a colleague established a testing center at Pine Rest to offer psychological assessment services for ADHD and differential diagnoses, pre-surgical evaluations, adoption assessments, and church and career consulting. Karen has a passion for psychological assessment and is pleased to continue to provide these services at Heartland. In 2018, Karen became a certified Enneagram coach and loves seeing the transformation this tool can help facilitate for individuals and teams. Karen has a heart for equipping others, especially within the church, and offers training and seminars on a wide variety of topics.
In her spare time, Karen is actively involved in her local church community, loves cheering for the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes, and doesn't love running but does it anyway.
